Storms, Floods, and the Goodness of God

A year ago today our city was in a bad way. I thought today would be a great day to share the testimony of  Awaken Church. I love the story of how God helped my friend Kevin and the Awaken crew. These two videos show how God is with us when we are literally sinking, and how He always leaves us better than we started. God is good.

Weekend Happenings

Fun and busy weekend ahead! This post if for my local peeps.

1. Tomorrow we’ll be partnering with a local football team for a huge community Easter Egg Hunt at NWHS at 10am. Come out for some free fun!

2. Yesterday kicked off Clarksville’s Rivers and Spires Festival. Again, it’s HUGE and FREE. We plan to be there tonight. I can’t wait to hang out with the great people of our city.

3. Sunday we continue our “Wonders” Series with a talk about the miraculous. Listen to the previous talks here. It’s also Palm Sunday!!

So, please spare us the mopey “I’m bored blah blah blah” status updates today. Get out and have a great weekend!

Lessons Learned From Xtreme Halloween

1. Big things happen when EVERYONE does their part. I can’t think of one person at Xtreme who didn’t help in some way with the outreach. We even had people from other churches help us out!

2. Communication is key. Most of our hiccups and headaches in the planning phase came because of communication breakdowns. This is definitely an area I want personally want to work on.

3. You can’t please everyone….but you can please God.

4. We were ALMOST unprepared for the size of the outreach. Call it inexperience. Call it small faith. In the end, I call it a win for God! The candy lasted (barely) and the inflatables didn’t explode : )

Sunday Thoughts

1. Praise God! What a great day !

2. Our worship and communion service was powerful this morning. I loved the change of pace.

3. I am amazed at how God used Xtreme to bless our neighborhood through our Halloween Outreach. Several people expressed shock, joy, thankfulness, and admiration for the fact that we would throw such a big party just for them…for FREE.

4. Together we were able to impact over 650 lives through our door-to-door ministry and all of the activities we made available in our parking lot. To God be all of the glory!

5. THANK YOU Xtreme for loving and serving Clarksville! Shout out to Lyndsey for all of the behind the scenes organizing!

6. Let’s not get comfortable. There are SO many who we did NOT reach tonight. Greater things are still to be done in this city!

7.What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith.” Phil 3:8-9 (NIV)

Something Stirring

I mentioned this yesterday, but big things are in store for Clarksville. There is a group of believers rising up who are sick of status quo Christianity. They are passionate about people far from God. They are tired of playing church and are ready to BE the church. I’m getting goose bumps just thinking about the churches and pastors who are setting aside the walls of style, denomination, and race and moving forward with one heart. Its not about buildings, fame, or crowds. Its about the Gospel. Plain and simple. Something big is stirring up in our city. I’m expecting great things!
