By far the most rewarding part of the last 6 years has been serving the students of MC Clarksville. I’ll really miss MC life…until the next time?

TYC09 Pt 2
Youth Convention was a blast as always. Every year God does something amazing in the lives of our young people. My hat goes off to the crew that plans, preps, and performs all of the behind the scenes activity that makes events like this a success. This year our MC team had the privilege to serve again and we loved it. A pet peeve of mine is when people are too negative or nit-picky after events like TYC. If they only knew how much time, tears, and energy go into creating an experience for other people to enjoy…. Sure there are always areas to improve in and things to do differently, but we can’t let the speed bumps take our eyes off of the awesome journey.
Besides all of that, Jesus is lifted up and God impacts teenagers. Who cares about anything else? Thank God for Terry and Sam, Chris and Shannon, Chris and Sonya, and everyone else involved in making it happen for our teens.

Labor Day Thoughts
- Been hanging out with friends this Labor Day. Just chilling.
- This time last year we were in the depths of Master’s Commission War Week. Since MCC 10 won’t kickoff until 01/10/10 its been different to have a laid back September. Obviously September is only 7 days old…but its been laid back nevertheless.
- We may have to make a trip to Ohio this week to see Jaemi’s grandfather in the hospital. He is not doing to well.
- Speaking of my Jaemi…her birthday is tomorrow. Where should I take her…?
- I’m ready for Ministers Retreat at the end of the month. There is nothing like chilling in the mountains.
- I would wish you all a happy Labor Day, but that would be work, and thus the opposite of what this holiday is about.
Sunday So Far
So far…
church was powerful. Altars full of folks earnestly seeking Him!
our new “There’s a Class That” ad came off well during vid announcements.
I signed up to take Koine Greek on Wednesday nights. Why you ask? Why not!?
I’m not gonna lie, it felt good to see someone other then MCC clear off the stage! Good work Josh!
we are enjoying a nice afternoon chilling at the house.
it has been very cool to follow Life Assembly’s service via twitter today.
it has been a great Sunday!
Back at It
It is good to be back! I just climbed out of all of the email and messages that accumulated during 9 glorious days off! There is nothing like being recharged and refocused. I’m usually only good for 3 days of vacation. Then I start to go stir crazy. This year was different. I needed every second of that break to unwind and relax. I wasn’t expecting to preach on my first Sunday back…but God knew and He did all of the work! I get to share at our Youth group this Friday and I teach at Blend Conference at the end of the month. I’m stoked about the upcoming semester at APSU. MCC is making some changes that will greatly increase our effectiveness. Next Level will be doing some serious outreach. I’m so blessed to be a part of something bigger than myself! It is great to be back!
The Tent
Last night I slept in the fireworks tenton an Army cot. What a trip.
Last time I slept in a tent I was in Balad, Iraq. Very trippy
experience. It's amazing how little things can trigger memories that
blast you back in time. I love fireworks, but im not going to lie,
they absolutley remind me of rocket and mortar attacks. I actually had
an episode last week where I actually thought I was back over there. I
don't have PTSD. But I definitley have strong memories and emotional
ties to the desert. Today we'll pack everything up and shut down the
tent. I wonder what will spark the next flashback?
