Sunday Thoughts

1. This has been a great weekend!

2. Last night we had a great crowd come and hang out at our Christmas Concert. Our team put on an excellent experience!

3. Today I got to juxtapose one of my favorite Christmas movies with Matthew 2. I’ve been planning this particular service off and on for a year.

4. I heard several stories today of how God is working in the lives of people. I love it!

5. Today we announced our New Year’s Eve service. It. Will. ROCK.

6. I really want the Titans to win big today. Not just because I’m a fan, but because I’m a saints hater. (yes I purposely used a lowercase “s”)

7. 14 days until Christmas!

Sunday Thoughts

1. Wow. What an amazing day!

2. About 15 minutes into worship our leadership team surprised me with a pair of tickets to the Bucs/Titans game.

3. They literally told me to hit the road and enjoy the game. Ted and I had a great (also cold and wet) time!

4. Thanks to my friend Jonnie W. for preaching this morning for us.It seems like everyone was in on the surprise.

5. The good news is that the Titans won. The bad news is that their win came at the expense of my Bucs.

6. I am truly humbled that I get to serve such great folks! I love our church!

7. Next week we kick off Christmas at the Movies! We’ll have the place decorated like a theatre with movie posters, there will be free popcorn for everyone, and we will have a blast. Don’t miss December at Xtreme!

Sunday Thoughts

1. Big thanks to Brandon Dean and his team from Clarksville Vineyard Fellowship for leading us in worship (song) today at Xtreme.

2. I’m thankful that my voice did not give out on me. On Thursday I could barely talk at all. Thank God for healing!

3. We got real about some serious issues today. I believe some folks were set free this morning.I am so glad that Jesus is in the “issue” business.

4. I got very little rest yesterday (coughing all night). I passed out as soon as I got home from Xtreme.Thankfully, I woke up to a BUCS and a TITANS win! That’s what’s up!!

5. Happy Birthday to Awaken Church in Clarksville. My friend Kevin Miller and his team are making Jesus famous in Clarksville. Great church!

6. We had our monthly leadership team meeting after service today. It’s an honor to work with such a great team. I couldn’t imagine having staff/leaders that I didn’t like. Our team rocks!

7. “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body” – 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NIV)

Sunday Thoughts

1. It was a day of victory at Xtreme today!

2. I say that because I know the enemy tried to use drama, stress, and sleep deprivation as a distraction. He lost because he sucks!

3. Once again I found myself lost in worship. I could do an entire post just on how tangible the presence of God was today.

Kevin and the team do a great job leading us.

4. After 3 days out of town it is great to be with my family. It feels like my boys have aged 2 years!

5. I think VY is made of glass. Homeboy is having trouble staying healthy. The Titans are in trouble…

6. Hoever, I’ll live out the message from this morning and be thankful that my Bucs are kicking much tail!

7. Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” – 1 Thes 5:16-18

What I’m Thinking Right Now

1. Aaron Rodgers came in BIG time for me in my fantasy league! I used to mock dudes who played fantasy football. My bad. This season has allowed me to enjoy pro football on a whole new level. Go Bucs and Titans!

2. I’ve seen some games that came down to the wire. Here’s what I’ve learned: The 1st 3 quarters don’t matter if you can’t finish the game in the 4th. What a statement about life!

3. I love my wife and sons!

4. There are a lot of people in my life who are fighting illness (myself included). I’m praying for healing! Let’s take care of ourselves folks.

5. I’m looking forward to some chill time with the family this week. Lots of food, lots of games, lots of each other!

6. I’ll be doing 11th hour Christmas shopping. This will be a thoughtful and intentional Christmas giving year for our immediate family. I refuse to spend another dollar on a toy that will be forgotten. We will not buy gifts for the sake of getting gifts.

7. Why is Cuban food so good? I don’t know, but I know I want some right now!

Wins and Losses

Win: I got what I expected from the Lord today! God answers specific prayers!

Loss: My fantasy team got upset.

Win: My wife cooked an amazing Sunday dinner!

Loss: I ate it while watching the Titans get owned by the Pats.

Win: Our teens did an awesome job during their Speed-The-Light Service tonight!

Loss: WAY too many people who could have been there stayed home. Yeah, I went there.(I understand if you couldn’t be there though…life happens)

Win: The Bucs returned a kick for a touchdown. Only the 3rd one in over 30 years.

Loss: They still lost to a horrible team.

Win: I got to borrow a Nintendo Wii!

Loss: No batteries…

Win: I have a great life!

Blog break…

I’ll be taking a break from writing for the nest few days. I’m headed to the mountains with the wife for some much needed R&R. Look forward to being refreshed and relaxing. Per my tradition I’ll probably blog via photograph.  Have a great week. Here are some thoughts that jumped out to me today during our services:

1. If you want to get depressed…isolate yourself.

2. Stop putting personal preference above spiritual reality.

3. Some people can experience the light, fellowship with the light, and yet never embrace the light…letting it change their lives.

4.Real friends don’t bail on you when you stumble. They run to your aid and help you back up. I want to be that type of friend.

5. The devil cannot be everywhere all of the time.

6. The Bucs and Titans are in a baaaaad way.

Ready for some football

tampa-bay-buccaneers

It is no secret that I love football. I spent most of my childhood and teen years playing football and dreaming of college ball. MMA has really served as a stop gap for me this year. I’ve been able to focus my attention on a contact sport while waiting for football season to start back up. No disrespect to the basketball, baseball, golf, or tennis fans out there…but there is NOTHING like American football! I’m stoked to see what the rebuilding year will bring for Tampa. I have no false hope of a “great season”. But I don’t think we’ll totally stink. Now that we’ve lived in TN for almost 6 years I’ve fallen in love with the Titans too. They should do very well. Only 3 days until the Preseason kicks off!
