I spent most of the late 90s playing drums in a punk/ska band. What does that mean? It means I spent most of the late 90s smelling to high heaven because it’s not very punk rock to take a shower. I remember being on tour the summer of 98′ and maybe taking 3 showers the whole time. Nasty.
Do you know what else is nasty? Christians walking around smelling like the filthy rags of their self-righteousness. Believers who spend too much time boasting in the dung of their personal accomplishments. People far from God who are covered in the stench of sinfulness. It all stinks! The good news is that:
“…when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.” Titus 3:4-7 NIV
