The concept of “suck it up and drive on” is instilled in most servicemen and women very on in their training. While this ideology is often attached to physical strength and weakness, research shows that many soldiers also apply this mindset to their emotions. The same mentality that helps warriors accomplish difficult missions may also end up hurting them in the long run. One could argue that the biggest barrier for combat veterans who are seeking help in the aftermath of combat is a mindset that ostracizes the hurt, demonizes the weak, and applauds false motivation.
This is where we help.
This Friday we kick off our 10th Warrior Weekend! Close to 100 people from the Fort Campbell Community representing a variety of units will gather for a FREE weekend of relaxation, development, and connection. It is truly an honor to give back to those who give so much to us. In fact, I joked the other day with one of our team members that serving a church and teaching are the things I do just to stay busy between warrior weekends. It’s a joy to serve!
