Over the last month I have witnessed the power of eliminating excuses. I get to teach at a local community college and I am blown away by the efforts of my students. I’ve watched single parents make huge sacrifices to further their education in order to help their families. Every week I watch an “older” student show up to class early and stay late with questions (after getting up early to catch the bus…to college). I see first-year students sit on the edge of their seats as we talk about the power of learning and the freedom that comes with an education.
Instead of making excuses for where they want to be, these students are eliminating excuses by chasing their dreams. No excuses. They have found a way to do what they set out to do. Again, I am immensely proud of their efforts. Someone once said, “The person who really wants to do something finds a way; the other person finds an excuse.”
Right now there is something that you know you need to do. Today you have a choice: find a way or find an excuse.
